About This Piece

Vintage Design

Elegant and sculptural, this vintage Peill & Putzler pendant lamp was produced in Germany during the 1960s and is a beautiful example of Mid-Century Modern German lighting design. Its refined teardrop silhouette is formed from softly translucent grey-green smoked glass, creating a subtle, atmospheric presence whether illuminated or switched off.
The generous hand-blown glass shade is beautifully complemented by a sleek chrome-plated metal fitting and elongated stem, giving the lamp a sophisticated balance between organic curves and clean geometric lines. The smoked glass gently filters the light, making it particularly effective above a dining table, in a living room, bedroom, or stylish entrance hall.
The lamp remains in original vintage condition. The glass is exceptionally well preserved, with no chips or cracks. The chrome has a few small, barely noticeable scratches consistent with age and use, adding a discreet patina without detracting from its overall elegance. The original Peill & Putzler label is present inside the lamp, providing an important mark of authenticity.
Founded in Germany, Peill & Putzler became one of the country's most respected glass and lighting manufacturers, renowned for combining exceptional glass craftsmanship with modernist design. The company collaborated with important designers including Wilhelm Wagenfeld and became particularly influential among architects and design enthusiasts.
A timeless 1960s German pendant light and a beautiful collectible piece for lovers of authentic vintage, Scandinavian and Mid-Century Modern interiors.
