Notes from Basel

Last night the Kunsthalle was packed, as usual. While everyone else was drinking in the courtyard, we had a lovely dinner in celebration of Tatjana's birthday. One of many Gemini girls working on this website. This morning I met with the always stylish Caroline van Hoek. I really loved her necklace by Lisa Walker. If you look closely you can see that the necklace is composed of vintage Playmobile people. You can tell they are old because the new Playmobile people have articulated wrists and ankles. It turns out that the best place to stop and recharge or have a meeting during Art Basel this year is the shacks on Messeplatz—a commissioned installation called Café Favela by artist Tadashi Kawamata and architect Christophe Scheidegger. The New Herzog building facade seems to wrap around every corner in sight of the Messe. Wava and I walking, walking, walking.
