Yesterday I headed over to Red Hook, Brooklyn, to meet Bec Brittain in her glorious studio housed within Rhett Butler's overwhelming design compound. The red brick building goes on forever as do the exterior courts and gardens. After a quick tour of the grounds we went up to see her work. Bec is clearly a rising star of the NY design scene, with a particular love and focus for lighting. Her work is exquisitely detailed and beautiful. She somehow manages to make things pretty but with a subtle rough twist to them. The pieces all feel special but pleasantly unfussy.
