Vintage Design

Large ewer covered with Persian influence, in porcelain from the India Company (Pink Family), Balled -folded collar, S -s and an opposite ear, piriform paunch, mounted on an enlarged foot. Polychrome decorations on white background representing lotus flowers, plant fines and floral friezes. On each side of the paunch, a child playing among lotus on a black background.

Croils on the foot and peonies on the lid. Executed for the Middle East market. Provenance China, Jiangxi province (Jingdezhen city). Of Qianlong period (1736-1795) 18th century.
This room is of exceptional quality / museum quality. Very rare due to its Persian style made for the export market (Ottoman - Middle East). Thus an identical ewerch (same size, same sets) is kept at the Guimet museum in the famous Grandidier*collection, a collector of the most beautiful pieces of Chinese porcelain. Also referenced in Beurdeley's work, "Porcelain of the India Company".
Ancient label in the ass "Duvauchel - tea and curiosities store - rue de l'Université 34". "In the shops of M. Duvauchel, reported in the Bottin from 1858, 34 rue de l'Université and 34 rue de Beaune, customers could not only find Chinese teas and soaps, but also Chinese porcelains, Ancient fans and other curiosities. " In L. Prost, "Adolphe Philippe d'Ennery Collector 1811-1899", Memory of the Louvre school under the direction of Mrs. Michèle Pirazzoli, June 1975, Annex 2, p. 225.
To report: the handle has been glued, the lotiform button on the cover also, small shine on the foot, a few jumps of email on the decorations, wear of time, look closely at the photos (see red spas).
* Marie Louis Ernest Grandidier (1833-1912):
is a French explorer, brother of Alfred Grandidier. from 1857, he participated in a scientific mission in South America for which he received the Legion of Honor. In 1870, the collapse of the Empire sent him back to civil life. On this date, he travels in southern Asia and became one of the great specialists in Chinese art. Now he will devote most of his time to his passion: collecting works of art and constituting a unique collection of porcelain in the Far East that he will give during his lifetime at the Louvre Museum. This collection of Chinese ceramics from Ernest Grandidier is one of the richest sets preserved in the West. The collection was transferred in 1945 to the Guimet Museum in Paris where it is now preserved.
