About this Museum

Founded in 1878, the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich is Switzerland's leading design and visual communication museum. Its extensive collection includes work from the 19th century through to the present day, including internationally renowned Poster, Graphics, Design and Applied Art departments. The museum’s focus spans the full design spectrum, from textiles, furniture, graphics and typography, to fashion, book art, architecture, interior design and beyond. The Museum is part of the Zürich University of the Arts.

Museum für Gestaltung also operates the Museum Bellerive, which houses its respected Applied Art collection, with special emphasis on the periods from Art Nouveau to today. Established in 1968 and situated beside Lake Zurich, Museum Bellerive was originally designed by the architect Erhard Gull in 1931 as a residence for the textile manufacturer Julius Bloch.
