About This Piece

Vintage Design

Vase by Fernand Elchinger (1911-1975). Ferdinand Elchinger, son of the Elchinger Céramistes dynasty, which had been producing ceramics in Souffleheim, Alsace, since 1834. Inspired by Art Deco and Bauhaus, Fernand Elchinger developed the modern and abstract forms of his ceramic vessels over the years, transforming them from the Elchinger Céramistes' original purely functional objects into works of art at the cutting edge of his time.

The signature "Elchinger" is located at the bottom of the vase base (see images). The shape of the vase is reminiscent of an orchid and is one of the rarest forms produced by Elchinger.
