About This Piece

Oil on canvas. Flemish school of the 19th century. The hilly landscape presents on the left in the foreground a tall plant towering over the fields below, with a hunter intent on aiming at a prey hidden among its branches; not far away are some farmhouses, with typical Nordic sloping roofs, in front of which other figures can be glimpsed; in the background in the distance the blurred profile of a city is outlined. On the frame there is a plaque attributing to Anthonie Van Borssom (1629 -1677), a Flemish landscape painter, whose production the painting refers to in some parts. The pictorial panel has been parched. The painting is presented in a mid-20th century gilded frame.
