Jan Lichtág, Nude Diana na Lovu, 1920s, Ceramic

Sculptor: Jan Lichtág This original sculpture titled "Diana na lovu" (Diana on the Hunt), originating from the 1930s, represents an extraordinary, highly valued, and collector-attractive example of top-tier Czechoslovak artistic and design production. Its author is the prominent sculptor, medallist, ceramicist, designer, and educator Jan Lichtág, who completed internships in Austria and the French porcelain manufactories of Sèvres, Limoges, and Vierzon. The creation originates from the production of the Keramická akciová společnost in Bechyně, and its visual concept is carried in the characteristic and timeless spirit of the Art Deco style. The overall shape impression and structural character of the sculpture are primarily defined by a precisely crafted body made of ceramics, with the depiction standing out for its high dynamism and detailed capturing the goddess Diana in motion accompanied by a pack of hounds. The item has survived in its original and very well-preserved condition, which strongly underscores its high authenticity, historical value, and the unrepeatable charm of period work. Thanks to first-class craftsmanship, documented domestic origin from a famous manufacturer, and a strong character, this sculpture exhibits above-standard aesthetic and collector value that will be appreciated by every lover of quality historical art. In a contemporary modern or carefully furnished interior, this artwork stands out as an absolutely unmissable, dominant, and highly elegant element. It imparts not only an unmistakable charm and distinctive elegance to the space, but above all the authentic atmosphere of the 1930s.
