About This Piece

Qual la descañona from Los Caprichos is an original artwork realized by the artist Francisco Goya and published in 1799. Etching and aquatint on paper. The etching is part of the First Edition of "Los Caprichos" published in 1799 by the Calcografia Nacional for the Real Academia of Madrid. Plate N. 21. Numbered on the upper right corner. Titled on the lower central margin " ¡Qual la descañonan! " (They are going to pluck her). Good conditions. Dimensions of plate: 3 x 2.5 cm. Bonnes marges. The expression of the lazy, disheveled and incapable person, perhaps drunk, shows his absence of the true life and an unconsciousness that does not notice the most serious dangers. The plate indeed represents a man and a chair in flames on the right side.
