About This Piece

Vintage Design

Both chairs are stamped by Jacob Frères and have been completely stripped of paint, restored, and reupholstered. Largely original, restored white and gold finishes.
(See the seating from Napoleon I's bedroom at the Grand Trianon, Palace of Versailles, illustrated in Denise Ledoux-Lebard: Le Mobilier Francais du 19 Siècle, p. 274. The inventory from the Château de Chanteloup included an identical armchair. (See Etude Tajan catalog for March 14, 2001, p. 50, fig. 238)
