Jackie Villevoye

Breda, Netherlands

Dutch fashion and textile designer Jackie Villevoye is the founder and creative director of the international fashion brand Jupe by Jackie. Villevoye was born in Maastricht, the Netherlands in 1957. She studied law at Tilburg University before raising five children. Although she never obtained a degree in design, Villevoye’s lifelong passion for design led her to travel around India, learning the art of hand embroidering. In 2010, at the age of 54, the self-taught designer established the fashion brand Jupe by Jackie in Breda, the Netherlands. Jupe by Jackie works in collaboration with master embroiderers from the Indian province of Uttar Pradesh. Villevoye designs fashion and home textiles that showcase and support the heritage of these craftsmen’s intricate, hand embroidery as an art. The brand is sold in high-end boutiques around the world such as Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in New York, and Corso Como in Shanghai and Milan. In 2012, while exhibiting her designs at the Tranoï tradeshow during Paris Fashion Week, Jupe by Jackie caught the eye of Comme des Garçons’s creative director, Rei Kawakubo. That same year, Villevoye began a partnership with Comme des Garçons, providing embroidery designs for the atelier.

In January 2017, Jupe by Jackie launched Jupe by Jackie Home with a colorful collection of hand-embroidered cushions, poufs, and original artwork at Maison&Objet in Paris. In autumn 2017, Jupe by Jackie exhibited at the advertising agency …,staat in Amsterdam and began collaborations with fashion brands 100 HANDS and Bonne Amsterdam.
