Stunning original English circa 1740 Figured Walnut, Rosewood & Boxwood writing bureau with brown leather gold leaf tooled writing surface
A highly decorative and important bureau dating to the middle part of the 18th century, this piece is like pure art furniture and looks absolutely sublime for a Bureau that's over 280 years old
The timber cuts are wonderful, they simply glow in the right light, the stripy boarder is a mixture of Rosewood & Boxwood where as the main body is mixed burr, burl and figured walnut, the handles, locks and escutcheons are all polished and original
Condition wise, we have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom, there will be age and use related patina marks as you would expect, all of which adds to the charismatic look and feel, I can see various old repairs to the veneer all of which add to the wonderful look and feel of the piece
