An exceptional and highly impressive monumental 19th century “lit bateau” bed, executed in the grand tradition of the Empire and Neoclassical styles, and distinguished by its extraordinary scale, sculptural quality, and richly carved decoration.

The bed displays a powerful and elegant boat-shaped silhouette, with both headboard and footboard rising in sweeping, symmetrical curves terminating in bold, classical scrolls. The structure is masterfully carved throughout with abundant floral and foliate motifs, scrolling volutes, rosettes, and stylized botanical elements, many of which retain their original polychrome decoration in deep green, warm red, and gilt highlights.
