About This Piece

Vintage Design

A striking and substantial example of pre-industrial craftsmanship, this mid-19th century bank of drawers is constructed from richly figured mahogany and stunning English oak. This piece features a practical yet elegant arrangement of multiple drawers—each fitted with original turned wooden knobs & aged brass locks.

Believed to have come from a bank, the drawers are individually in their own section & buttressed with wood.

The rich patina of the wood reflects decades of use, with warm, mellow tones in the mahogany contrasting beautifully against the softer grain of the oak carcass. Dovetail joinery and hand-planed surfaces throughout speak to the meticulous skill of its maker, unmarred by the uniformity of later machine production.

Perfect as a statement storage piece or functional display in a curated interior, this bank of drawers captures the utilitarian grace and enduring quality of early Victorian-era furniture before the rise of mass manufacturing.
