The cypress wood for this vase is turned to create a soft and thick shape, into which horizontal lines are then carved in both continuous and non-continuous forms, like tree rings. This new texture makes the material seem to vibrate, and the shadows created then blur the perception of the original veins of the wood.
'Anni is a wooden container for things and thoughts', says Massimo Barbierato of his collection. This vase can be used for flowers. Even though the walls are quite thick, it is recommended to place a glass vessel inside when used with water. Every piece is hand-made and part of a small series. Differences and imperfections should be considered part of the character of the material, and of the production methods used.
